MN ENABL
Minnesota Education Now and Babies Later
MN ENABL is a statewide initiative of the Minnesota Department of Health. It is primarily focused on preventing adolescent pregnancy by targeting youth ages 12-14, their parents/care givers, and the community. The goal of MN ENABL is to reduce adolescent pregnancy by decreasing the number of teens who engage in sexual activity and by promoting abstinence until marriage utilizing a multi-faceted approach.

MN ENABL uses three approaches: community
organizing, statewide media campaign
and curriculum implementation
(PDF-30K).
The curricula used as part of the MN ENABL program are taught by teens and adults and are targeted to youth ages 12-14. They focus on teaching teens useful and assertive methods to avoid early sexual involvement. For tips on how to say not yet to sex, click here.

Empowering Youth to Say Not Yet
In 2001, Minnesota experienced an average of 14 teen births
each day.
We also know that almost two-thirds of American teens who have had sex wish they had waited longer and sixty-nine percent of teens agree it would be much easier for them to postpone sexual activity and avoid teen pregnancy if they were able to have more open, honest conversations about sex with their parents.
The need for parents and teens to communicate so that youth will make the decision to Say Not Yet is plain to see. Now, what are YOU going to do about it?
